Kelsey was raised on a small farm, surrounding by the ebb and flow of rural living. Fascinated with the natural world, Kelsey began to photograph the flora and fauna of her local environment. After receiving her Master of Fine Arts degree, Kelsey returned to her hometown region of Southwestern Pennsylvania to continue her artistic practice. Kelsey’s current photographic research is centered around the intersection of space, landscape, and memory as elements of placemaking and identity. She continues to explore these ideas through both traditional and alternative photographic processes with a focus on plant-based material. Kelsey routinely exhibits in both group and solo exhibitions, and she has also participated in artist residencies in the United States and Ireland. Kelsey also works as an arts educator, having taught classes and workshops Miami University, Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media, Sweetwater Center for the Arts, and the Pittsburgh Botanic Garden.
